Granite Edged Drive, Purley

In this instance, the customer requested a stone chipping finish as opposed to a block paved or tarmac drive. During the consultation process we were able to suggest granite stone edgings and Cotswold buff stone chippings as they would complement the age and style of the property.

One of the main features of the driveway was its granite sett ‘rumble strip’ at the entrance, which included recessed joints – this ensured that if the driveway stones were to move with cars passing over them over time, these would not spill into the road or pavement.

Granite setts were also utilised around the periphery of the driveway to ensure that this displacement of stones also didn’t happen into the flowerbeds. This also gave the driveway a clear neat edge and definition. We were also able to advise on the planting scheme – suggesting a mixture of evergreen plants and seasonally flowering plants.
